I have had the atmospherix speakers installed in my open kitchen / living area running a dedicated 2 channel setup (i.e. no additional sub) for over 3 years now. They sound as good now as the day I installed them.

When I purchased these speakers in 2004 (approx $600 per pair), the only speakers that came close to the Krix's detail and mid-range were a Speakercraft option at over $1000 per pair and a JM Focal Lab option that were again, $1000 per pair. Great in-ceiling speakers for the price.

A fantastic speaker that produces an extremely clear sound, detailed bass (i.e. not boomy) and for in-ceiling speakers, a good stereo soundstage. Great for classical, pop and some rock n roll, but hey, great bass out of a 5" driver. Would work very well with a subwoofer for a 2.1 setup. I would love to do this, but my toddlers at home would most likely post vegemite sandwiches into the bass port!
